The Basic Principle Of BOSA
BOSA integrates multiple optical components to achieve bi-directional communication:
Transmitter (TOSA)
Generates continuous-wave or modulated light at a specific wavelength (e.g., 1310 nm upstream).
Receiver (ROSA)
Detects incoming light at a different wavelength (e.g., 1490 nm downstream) using a PIN or APD photodiode.
Wavelength Multiplexer/Demultiplexer (WDM Filter)
Combines transmit and receive wavelengths into a single fiber and separates them at the receiver side.
Signal Flow
Electrical transmit signal → TOSA → WDM multiplexer → Single fiber → WDM demultiplexer → ROSA → Electrical output
